Visit Ourika - Morocco
VISIT OURIKA
If you are in Marrakech, a visit to the Ourika Valley is absolutely essential. About 50 km from a road that does not recommend do with a rental car. Cost of taxi tour: 700 dirhams for a half day. If you take a collective minibus, it's cheaper, but you will undergo scheduled stops at places where the guide bribes.
The valley starts 30 km from Marrakech, with stunning scenery all along, to Setti Fatma where you can continue on foot visiting the waterfalls.
Some cases not to be missed:
- Monday only Berber market Tnine Ourika (early in the valley)
- The aromatic organic garden Tnine Ourika (beware, there are plenty of shops spices throughout the route, with some flat strips of plants and they are all presented as bioaromatiques gardens: Tnine is far the most serious)
- The museum Berber shortly after Tnine,
- Visiting a Berber family; there are several families along the road that cater to tourists for a dive in the local community, your driver will probably hers !!
For lunch: meal at risk in many eateries along the way. A Setti Fatma, your driver will try to take you to the restaurant "the Ourika Valley." This restaurant delivers generous bribes to drivers and guides, but imposes a set menu at 120 dirhams which is not terrible at all (couscous tasteless, industrial dessert straight out of its plastic pot). Go instead to the Pearl of Ourika, 1 km before Setti Fatma.
